Indiya Benjamin’s Career

It has been four years since the lovely Indiya Benjamin left Lima Senior High School as career-leader for scoring and assists in the girl’s basketball program. After her senior year, she committed to attend Youngstown State University to continue her basketball and educational career. Benjamin’s senior season at Youngstown State ended with her being the Horizon League Tournament’s career assist leader. She also broke the three-point record this past season and ended with a total of 1,280 points. This ranked her to be number 13 on the school’s career scoring list. Indiya came in as a freshman at YSU being a Division I All-Ohio Player. She is a four-year starter leading the amount of assists in the Horizon League for the past three seasons. While at Lima Senior, she had a total of 1,618 points in her career. She said, “Coming in as a freshman at YSU, the coach gave me the green light to shoot the ball allowing me to just play the game.” Although Youngstown State games do not get the TV exposure that the bigger schools get, it is a great team to go out and watch!
