Shaun White Reclaims Gold Medal

Shaun White is back on top of the snowboarding world yet again as he won his third gold medal in the half pipe event. This is the United State’s 100th gold medal that their athletes have won at the Winter Olympics. This is a huge comeback for White due to his disappointing finish at the 2014 Sochi games. He was only able to get a fourth place finish at these games and for a snowboarder so used to success, this finish was far from what he was used to. He said that for those Olympics he just wasn’t 100% committed but got his act together and worked his hardest to get back to being at the top of the sport. Well, the 31-year-old Shaun White did just that and his comeback has been insane. He needed the perfect run after Japan’s Ayumu Hirano took over first place and ended up performing his best run and scored a 97.75 vaulting him into first place. He has finally reclaimed the crown that he has worked so hard for.
