On Monday night, Trump signed the bill ending the government shutdown. Trump signing this bill helped to end a three-day shutdown and reinstate funds until the 8th of February. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are over the immigration process and help with the assurances involving this process. After the initial work day, the votes had then been processed officially three days after the government shut down on Friday at midnight. It is said by Schumer that Congress would vote again earlier that day to make the process of reopening the government go by faster. Schumer also stated that the government shutting down was distracting the senators from focusing on the passing of legislatures. The Senate vote was moved from 1 a.m. to noon later that day, after it was noticeable that the democrats were set on blocking the spending bill. After a few discussions with congress and the senate, the president signed to reopen the government.
