Purdue Wins Close Game

The Purdue Boilermakers defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions on Tuesday night in overtime by a score of 74-70. Penn State dominated the first half as they took a 33-29 lead going into halftime. At one point during the first half, the Lions were leading by ten points, but the Boilermakers were quickly able to close the gap. However, in the second half, the Lions were able to make up the difference, forcing the game into overtime. The Boilermakers got a couple stops on defense in overtime to steal the win on the road. Purdue was led by forward Caleb Swanigan, who had ten points, nine rebounds, and four assists. The Boilermakers also got twelve points, eight rebounds, and three assists from Elida graduate Dakota Mathias. Penn State was led by freshman guard Tony Carr, who had twenty-one points, five rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and two blocks. Freshman Lamar Stevens also stood out from the rest of the team, with eighteen points and seven rebounds. Purdue will now travel to Michigan to take on the Wolverines, and Penn State will be looking to get a win against Minnesota.
