Starbucks to Open First Store in Italy

The new Starbucks outlet in the Chowpatty neighborhood of Mumbai, India, sells only vegetarian fare in deference to area residents who have all but banned meat from shops and restaurants. (Shashank Bengali/Los Angeles Times/TNS)

Starbucks is extremely popular in the United States and many other countries. Until now, Italy has been missing out on all the amazing coffee and desserts that Starbucks offers. Starbucks recently announced that they will be opening in their first Starbucks in Italy in Milan in early 2017. Coffee and espresso are both highly popular drinks in Milan, so the company believes that opening a cafe will be beneficial. Starbucks already has around 2,400 locations in the U.K., Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, all of which are experiencing at least some level of success, as they make up about ten percent of the store’s global sales. In the United States alone, there are around 7,000 Starbucks locations, making it the country with the most Starbucks cafes in the world. Hopefully the location in Milan will be successful and lead to the company’s success and growth.
