Leonardo DiCaprio finally won an Oscar! After five previous nominations that failed to get him the win, DiCaprio finally snagged the coveted Academy Award for his role in “The Revenant”. After receiving a standing ovation while taking the stage, DiCaprio gave an impassioned speech about climate change, a cause he has been long combating. “Climate change is real. It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species. We need to work together to stop procrastinating. Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take tonight for granted.” As with any win, there are people that both wholeheartedly support the Academy’s decision, and people who think that someone else deserved the award. However, it seemed the DiCaprio was on a roll this year, already winning a Golden Globe and a BAFTA this awards season. DiCaprio said he valued the experience because of his chance to speak to millions of people around the world about climate change in his acceptance speech.
