The Giant Panda is found mostly in Southwest China in mountains and temperate forests. These amazing animals can weigh anywhere from 220-330 pounds! The Giant Panda is critically endangered, with only 1,864 left in the wild, making it the rarest member of the bear family.  The Giant Panda is facing habitat destruction, which is one of the major reasons there are so few left in the wild. Roads and railroads being built through the Giant Panda forest isolate the Pandas frmo each other, preventing mating. The Pandas’ diet consists mostly of bamboo, and because of the destruction of bamboo forests, it is becoming more difficult for Pandas to find food in the wild. Luckily, China has made about fifty Panda reserves to keep this species going.
