Jeb Bush Proposes Social Security and Medicare Plans

On Tuesday Jeb Bush released his plans for Social Security and Medicare if he would win the republican presidential candidate position. He says that he would raise the retirement age for Social Security, which is already at the age of sixty-seven. If someone were to stop working before becoming eligible for retirement, Bush plans to decrease the size of those people’s social security checks. Bush plans on increasing social security benefits for people that choose to work after they are able to retire. Wealthy workers under the new plan would still receive smaller social security checks and fewer benefits from Medicare. Bush would also allow seniors to keep their own private savings accounts. Under Bush’s plan, every fall, seniors would receive a brochure in the mail describing different plans to choose from for the following year.
